A colleague punted this over to me the other day: Jungle Disk. It uses Amazon’s S3 developer orientated online storage service to provide an online file locker to Joe Public. I’m In The Trade???????, so I had to have a look. It’s quite nice, if all you want is a place to drag and drop files just in case your PC blows up… but it’s only the beginning.
There’s a slight wrinkle though. It may not be against the word to Amazon’s TOS, but it could be against their spirit. My interpretation of Amazon’s intentions is that S3 is for use More >
I’m back!
May 21st
After an all night drive to get there (note to self: never use Holyhead when visiting Cardiff. The main road snakes through the mountains), and another one to get back (Irish Ferries allowed me to change to the Pembroke ferry on the way back), I’m back home in one piece. The brother set me up with a great seat at the match. I was near the half way line on the top deck of the stand. I, along with 50,000 of the most rabbid rugby fans it the world, witnessed our team finally break the Heineken Cup Jinx.

Train drivers taking the pi$$

There’s an unofficial strike going on at CIE right now. CIE are introducing new rolling stock, and the drivers are demanding “compensation”. Nowhere has anyone said that these new trains/carriages are harder to drive or take any more work to operate, but the drivers want a payoff anyway. The strike is unofficial because the labour court has already told them to get knotted, so the union is staying out of it.
So what they’ve done is virtually shut down all mainline services to the southern half of the country. God help them if this is still the case on friday when More >
